January 6 Documentaries

Jan. 6 Documentaries

I co-wrote, appeared in and helped produce three documentaries for The Epoch Times. All of them dealt with different aspects of the Jan. 6 protests and rioting at the U.S. Capitol. Each reflected our constantly improving access to information, Capitol security video, and the stories of courageous victims of the weaponized FBI and U.S. Department of Justice.

the real story of jan. 6

Premiered July 22, 2022

The idea for this film was born out of the aggressive and wildly inaccurate propaganda staged on national television by the Nancy Pelosi-led Democrat machine at the U.S. Capitol. The so-called Jan. 6 Select Committee was aptly named in one sense: it was very selective on facts and made very liberal use of distortion, spin and dishonesty. We aimed to tell the stories being covered up and stifled by mockingbird media in D.C. and New York. It was an eye-opener.

The film was narrated by Joshua Philipp based on the reporting of Joseph Hanneman.
Jan. 6 protesters Victoria White of Rochester, Minn., and Luke Coffee of Dallas appear in the film.

The film asks tough questions about who was responsible for the chaos that day. With compelling interviews and exclusive video footage, the documentary tells the real story of January 6. The film is narrated by Joshua Philipp, host of “Crossroads” on EpochTV and a senior investigative reporter at The Epoch Times.

the jan. 6 tapes

Premiered Aug. 11, 2023

The Epoch Times was given access to tens of thousands of hours of U.S. Capitol Police security video from Jan. 6, 2021. I spent long hours in a nondescript conference room turned into a video lab in a U.S. House office building. Scrubbing through the massive video database was an arduous, but ultimately very productive task. The result was a one-hour documentary, “The Jan. 6 Tapes,” that aired on Aug. 11, 2023.

The dramatic footage helped answer some of the many questions that remain two-and-a-half years after the events of Jan. 6. It also laid the foundation for other important discoveries in the deaths of Rosanne Boyland and Ashli Babbitt.

the real story of jan. 6 part 2: the Long road home

Premiered Jan. 6, 2024

With the FBI calling its J6 investigations “bigger than 9/11,” Jan. 6, 2021, has marked a turning point in American history. In the three years since Jan 6, a historic criminal investigation into the incident has played out in a dramatic fashion across the country. As of now, J6 prosecutions have reached beyond the 1,000-case milestone, while the DOJ warned of more to come. Eventually, that caseload grew to nearly 1,600 before President Trump issued mass pardons.

U.S. Sen Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) hosted a film premiere at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 9, 2024.

In “The Real Story of Jan. 6 Part 2: The Long Road Home,” Epoch Times journalist Joseph Hanneman reveals shocking evidence of how the wide-ranging prosecutions of Jan. 6 defendants have been handled with injustice.
